The pumpkin and spice in this recipe gives the biscuits a unique flavor. Since it uses canned pumpkin, you can enjoy it all year round, but especially during the Fall and Thanksgiving.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup canned pumpkin
- 1 tablespoon water
Directions:
Makes 9 biscuits
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Mix together flour, nonfat dry milk, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and salt in medium bowl. Cut in shortening. Blend in pumpkin and water just until all ingredients are moistened.
Knead 10-20 times on lightly floured surface.
Using a 3 inch cookie cutter, cut into nine biscuits. Place biscuits on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
Bake in hot oven (400°F) about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
