Are you looking for a fast and easy bread rolls recipe? Try a batch of these yummy rolls with dinner tonight!
For light and fluffy rolls, use all white bread flour. Or, for a variation on a theme, substitute whole wheat flour for some of the bread flour.
The rolls featured in the photo are made with 50% all-purpose flour and 50% home-milled whole wheat flour. They have a sweet wheat flavor.
Bread Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
1 packet instant yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
2 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water
1 small egg
Directions:
1) Combine milk, water and margarine and heat to 115°F to 125°F.
2) Place 1 cup flour, sugar, salt, egg and dry yeast in large bowl.
3) Add heated liquid and beat at medium speed for 2 minutes with an electric mixer. Slowly stir in remaining 1 cup of flour.
4) On a floured surface, knead the dough until firm and smooth, about 10 minutes. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
5) Divide and roll the dough into 24 equal pieces.
6) Place 2 pieces into greased 3-inch cup pans. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 1/2 hour.
7) Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until browned.
8) Remove from pans and serve warm or cool.
Yield: 12 rolls
